10 Jun Horary Astrology in Practice: Finding “Bilari” The Lost Cat
June 10, 2026
Horary Astrology is one of astrology’s most fascinating and practical branches. Rather than examining a person’s birth chart, Horary answers a specific question by casting a chart for the exact moment the astrologer receives and understands the query.
This technique can be applied to an extraordinary range of situations. Traditionally, astrologers have used Horary to judge the outcome of court cases, assess whether a property purchase is advisable, determine whether a move will be beneficial, locate lost possessions or missing pets, and even answer questions concerning life and death. While the latter are approached far less frequently today for ethical reasons, questions relating to relationships, legal matters, property transactions, and missing animals remain common subjects for horary practice.
To illustrate how effective Horary Astrology can be, I would like to share a recent case involving a missing cat.

In Horary Astrology, the person asking the question (the querent) and the subject of the question (the quesited) are represented by key significators, with the Moon always playing an important supporting role.
In this case, the querent was asking on behalf of a friend whose cat had disappeared after the friend returned from a period away from home. The friend was represented by Venus, ruler of the 11th house (Libra). Her cat was signified by the 6th house from the 11th, a turned house that fell in Pisces, making Jupiter the cat’s significator.
Both Venus and Jupiter were located in Cancer, while the Moon was at 26° Libra. The Moon had most recently separated from a square to Jupiter. As always in Horary, the Moon described the situation occupying the querent’s mind. Significantly, the Moon was in Libra, ruled by Venus, naturally connecting the querent’s concern to her friend.
The Moon was particularly important in this chart. It occupied the same sign as the friendship significator’s ruler and was in mutual reception with Venus, reflecting the affection and goodwill between the two friends. Furthermore, the Moon was close to the fixed star Spica, traditionally considered one of the most fortunate and benefic stars in astrology. This suggested a degree of protection and good fortune surrounding both the owner and her missing pet.

The Moon also provided clues to the cat’s whereabouts. Venus and Jupiter were both placed in Cancer, a sign strongly associated with water, while Libra often points towards attractive surroundings such as gardens, flowers, or landscaped areas. Based on these testimonies, I suggested that the cat was likely near water and in a pleasant, green environment.
The querent later revealed that the cat’s home backed onto a brook and was situated in a leafy, garden-rich area.
Most importantly, there were no applying aspects from the traditional malefics, Mars or Saturn, to Jupiter, the cat’s significator. This was reassuring and led me to conclude that the cat was alive and unharmed.
As events unfolded, the cat was indeed found close to the brook. It had hidden beneath some metal signage that had been left abandoned on the ground outside some old garages.

The timing was equally interesting. Venus, representing the owner, was applying to conjunct Jupiter, representing the cat, by approximately 13 degrees. Given that Jupiter was near the 9th house cusp, in a cadent house but also in the cardinal sign Cancer, I judged the unit of time to be relatively swift and estimated that owner and cat would be reunited in approximately 13 hours.
With the assistance of the horary judgment, the cat was located the following day, very near the brook exactly as indicated by the chart.

Cases such as this demonstrate just how practical and useful Horary Astrology can be. It is a branch of astrology that demands confidence from the practitioner, as predictions are ultimately proven right or wrong by events. My own experience has repeatedly shown that traditional Horary techniques, applied carefully and consistently, can produce remarkably accurate results. Often, it is not complexity that brings success, but a disciplined adherence to clear and time-tested rules.
